Lava River & standing on the paper

Our lecture gave a papers to each team to take the challenges. In the first challenge all team members should stand on a given paper.

In 1st round our lecturer has given a command, we all have to stand on paper. She will notice our actions on paper. It was a challenge for every crew to take the feet off the paper.
In the 2nd round sheet was folded into two, it was difficult to keep all the legs on the paper, our commitment descended down. 3rd round was folded into three.

In the 2nd challenge all team members have to get safely across the lava river. Participants do not touch the river, so you have to use the sheets for security.

We were able to pass our members to the 1st round. We try to be individuals or two to across the river. But in the 2nd round we could not do that. All the members of the team had to participate in the same time.

If any group is out of the paper for a specified period of time, a group will removed from challenge.
Finally the winner was concluded by total points.

Egg protecting cover

In our PPD lesson we did another wonderful activity that called egg protecting activity.
Our lecture divided pupils in equal three teams and gave an egg to each team. We need to protect that egg from breaking when we throw that from the top with given five A4 sheets and cello tape. She gave 45 minutes time to make it.

Life Goals

At this time we made a life-key activity in our lecture. We focus on the goal of our lives as a separate activity at our lecture. Our lecturer told us to come with a bristle board, in which we should design a clear description of our living goals. So we first divide our goals into three main categories.

  1. Academic goals
  2. Professional goals
  3. Personal goals

Barter Puzzle

In our PPD session we did another interesting activity as Puzzle.

We were divided into three groups, and I was in the third group.
Then our miss asked a person to come front from each group. She gave an advertisement paper to that each person and asked to see it as a group for a minute. She once again asked another person come front from each group. She gave a scissor to each two persons and asked to cut that advertisement paper into hundred pieces. Then mixed the hundred pieces together and toke ten pieces in each group and mixed that also with other groups. Then all the groups were asked to solve the puzzle in 45 minutes.

Learning outcome

  • Working as group.
  • Planning before working.
  • Time management.
  • Situations handling.
  • Decision making.

2017 December 09 and 10th, the all I and II years Software Engineering students successfully participated in their field trip. But I lost that opportunity because my health is not good. There are more than 80 students and 3 lectures were participated that outbound training program at Trincomalee Navy Camp.

This is the end of the first year of happiness, labor and hard work. Finally we wanted to make a blog that we are following in our last class.

Thank you.

Field Trip

2017 December 09 and 10th, the all I and II years Software Engineering students successfully participated in their field trip. But I lost that opportunity because my health is not good. There are more than 80 students and 3 lectures were participated that outbound training program at Trincomalee Navy Camp.

First Day (2017 December 09)

They started their journey at 3:00 am, and they had two buses for the journey in the university. The friends joined the bus and enjoyed a lot of time and then reached a big lake in Kantalai. It was so beautiful, and then all of them would stop buses and take some photos.

Then they continued their journey back to the navy camp at 10.30 am. It was built with a lot of security and amenities. Then girls and boys reached their staying places, and then they were all ready for progress. Then they were taken to lunch, an officer gave a short speech. Finally they reached a beach area to start their activities.

First Activity

The first activity was they were separated into four groups. Then they asked to select 8 members in each groups and there was a small square which was tucked with two bamboos and placed it as the square comes in the middle with little bit of high from floor and they were asked to go into the square without touching and if any part of their body touched the square then they were out and once again start from the first.  After the activity an officer told them to the plus and the minus of groups.

Second Activity

The second activity they asked 8 people from a group without a leader so totally 9 participants from each group and what they did was they gave small PVC plastic and the leader stay front and wants to put the marble into the first person's PVC when the marble touch the PVC only the next person wants to touch his PVC with the other ones. Likewise the group wants to pass the marble to the boundary line.

Third Activity

Now the authorities gave us a big plastic tube. Both sides were finally opened and there were several holes in that pipe and they took water from the sea and asked them to fill it.

Forth Activity

Now they asked to form 10 people from each group in a queue and they gave them bricks and each of everyone wants to keep the brick in their stomach and the person who in front wants to keep that brick without falling down by pushing it with his back and also the other condition was everyone wants to keep their hands on the back side of the head then the group asked to move to the boundary line which was kept by the officers without fall down any bricks if any brick fall down then the team wanted to start from the beginning.

Fifth Activity

The next activity beach volley ball but a small different. They can't use their hands. So what happened was every group formed their group into three parts with 6 members for each and one of the person wants to stay the other side to catch the ball. the other five wants to stay the other side and four of them wants to hold a cloth like a rubber sheet and the other one wants to keep the volley ball onto the rubber sheet and lead the team and the team wanted to throw the ball using that cloth to the other side and the person who stand on the other side wanted to catch the ball. If it happened correctly then the team will get 1 points. Every group got 15 chances to try it.

Finally, they finished all the activities and all of them returned to their room, ready at about 6:00 pm for dinner. They were decorated with lights behind the same location. Then each group asked for two shows, and there was a fire camp their dinner was given, then finally they went to bed for the rest.

Second Day (2017 December 10)

Day two. They woke up at 7 o'clock in the morning. Once the breakfast was finished, they were again divided into three groups. They were given a map and a compass, using the map and the compass to reach the elephant point. First the officers taught us how to use the compass.

After the relaxation, they went to the Navy Museum and viewed the damaged elements during the Second World War and damaged during the 3 decades of war.

Finally after watched the museum they went to Sniper training center and had their lunch and thanks the officer for their dedications. Finally they nearly at 3:30 pm took bus to university and at 10:30 pm they reached back.

Thank you.
